When the long-awaited release of Panasonic’s new camera hit a snag, this comedic spot was created to help calm eager buyers. Agency: Phelps
A spot for Wendy’s that ties in with the game show “Minute to Win It.” The script first featured French fries, then burgers, then soda cups, and finally lettuce to promote a new line of salads.
Two spots featuring FX Movie Channel host Tava Smiley in her element: interviewing stars on the red carpet. We staged the whole event on a backlot with well-coiffed "celebs" and phony paparazzi.
For this neighborhood real estate spot, I used trans-light backgrounds to make it appear Dave Holmes was strolling in suburbia, with the reveal he was really working on a Hollywood backlot.
Original “Newlywed Game” host Bob Eubanks and fellow celebs Todd Newton and Kennedy go retro for Comcast. The entire set was added in post, including ‘70s era contestants and Bob’s microphone. Production company: The Spark Factory
Christmas shopping made easy thanks to Best Buy and another shoot with Dave Holmes.
Four cameras and a stunt driver were used to capture host Dave Holmes’ high-speed ride in a Ford Mustang for this integration I directed and edited for the FX series “DVD on TV.” Production company: The Film Syndicate
Branded content for Friskies and the hit series “Minute to Win It,” featuring a cat performing the near impossible to win a treat. A good part of the budget went to training three lookalike felines to ride a Roomba. A fun shoot featuring stars with purr-fect cat-itudes.
Dolph Lundgren gives wanna-be stunt people a lesson in badassery in one of six comedy segments I directed in a single day with the action icon. Check out my Digital section for the other five.
We rebuilt the set of the competition series “Steampunk’d,” brought in two former contestants, and shot them building steampunk dogs for this integration for Petfinder and Purina. An online poll decided the winning design. Spoiler alert: it was Annubis.
“DVD on TV” host Dave Holmes goes behind the scenes of his own show to learn what crew members think about Ford’s latest pick-up truck, in this integration written/directed/edited by me for FX. Production company: The Film Syndicate
Tylenol spots for GSN and ad agency JWT, featuring Florence Henderson and Wink Martindale. Four :60 spots produced in a single day. Check out my Digital section for another segment featuring Erik Estrada.
One of three online Christmas sing-alongs I directed featuring the versatile John Michael Higgins (all four of him!), host of the hit game show “America Says.”
One of five stunt driving segments I directed for FX Network to promote the airing of the Jason Statham blockbuster “Death Race.” We used five cameras to capture the action and then I cut it together.
We overtook an LA gym, hired '70s icon Erik Estrada as a trainer, and let hidden cameras roll for Tylenol & GSN. Game show legend Wink Martindale joined in on the fun. The next day, we did it all over again with “waitress” Florence Henderson. Agency: JWT
When Dolph Lundgren turned his talents to hosting a competition series, I directed six comedy segments with the action star in a single day to launch his show across digital platforms. Here are five of them (look under Branded Content for the sixth).
“Ghostbusters” co-stars Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones played a round of Winsanity with show host Donald Faison. Shot in one take in a hotel room with 3 cameras and a makeshift game show set. Featured at Extratv.com.
I’ve directed dozens of man-on-the-street segments stretching from LA to Boston for brands including Clorox, McDonald’s, Oscar Mayer, and this fun one for Boost (part of a series).
One of 20 digital segments I directed over a three-day period for Stouffer’s website of dinnertime tips. Starring Jenica Bergere and some talented kids as a household with zero family time. Agency: Conductor
Promo for the game show Winsanity which never saw the light of day (the show was cancelled before the second season aired, but we still had fun).
We staged an elaborate wedding in the mountains of LA for these two launch promos for “The Newlywed Game,” starring host Carnie Wilson. One challenge: Carnie was very pregnant and could barely stand, so a double takes her place for non-close-ups.
Comedy promo for the ever-popular Cash Cab shot with host Ben Bailey.
Two of many launch promos and digital segments shot in a single day with host Donald Faison for the GSN game show “Winsanity.” We had just as much fun the following season.
14 sets were built on a single soundstage and dozens of cast members were dressed in period wardrobe for intros to all 7 games of the World Series on Fox. The Red Sox swept the Rockies in 4 games, meaning half of the work never aired! Production company: The Film Syndicate
I interviewed all of the contestants of GSN’s hit series “Skin Wars” and captured their revealing answers using a moving camera on a jib and a stationary camera for close-ups.
We had access to the Sony Studios set of the game show “Russian Roulette,” so we shot as many promos as possible in a single day. This one is my favorite (I also edited), featuring comedian Michael Rayner. Production company: The Spark Factory
Trailer for an award-winning documentary I directed about my childhood filmmaking adventures. Screened at over 30 film festivals and at San Diego Comic Con. Film Threat calls it “a must-see” and “inspiring.” Now streaming on Amazon Prime.
Extremely short, award-winning comedy featuring my daughters and a few of my childhood toys. Screened at over a dozen film festivals in theaters across the U.S. and featured at AintItCool.com.
Award-winning short comedy I directed, edited, and shot on one of the sets used in “The Usual Suspects.” Featuring Joel McHale before he was JOEL MCHALE.
